Questions
Pricing and Availability
What does a 2026 Jeep Compass cost in New Hampshire?
The 2026 Compass starts at $29,550 for the Latitude, excluding the $1,995 destination charge. The range runs to $35,555 for the Limited Altitude. Note that the Trailhawk at $34,060 sits below the Limited Altitude, because it is a capability trim rather than the top of the range.
What is the most expensive 2026 Compass?
The Limited Altitude at $35,555, excluding destination. It takes the Limited's equipment and adds 19-inch Satin Granite Crystal wheels, a gloss-black and neutral-gray exterior treatment and piano-black interior accents. It is not the most capable Compass; that is the Trailhawk.
Is the 2026 Jeep Compass available now?
Yes. All six trims are in production and orderable, and we stock the range at our Lafayette Road showroom. Availability of a specific colour and package combination varies, so call us at (603) 431-8900 and we will tell you what is on the ground.
Is it better to lease or buy a Compass?
It depends on how long you keep vehicles and how many miles you drive. Leasing suits shorter ownership and predictable low mileage; buying suits longer ownership and higher mileage. We will run both structures side by side on the same vehicle so you can compare real numbers rather than generalities. Start with our financing page or call the store.
Was there a price increase on the 2026 Compass?
The prices announced when the 2026 Compass was revealed in late 2025 are lower than the current ones, and they also included the destination charge, while the prices on these pages exclude it. The two sets are not directly comparable. Everything on this site uses the current pricing.
Questions
Engines and Performance
What engine is in the 2026 Jeep Compass?
One engine only, standard across all six trims: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four rated 200 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 221 lb-ft from 1,750 rpm, driving an eight-speed automatic.
Does the 2026 Compass come with all-wheel drive?
Four-wheel drive is standard on all six trims for 2026 and there is no front-wheel-drive version. The Trailhawk gets Jeep Active Drive Low with its 20:1 crawl ratio; every other trim gets Jeep Active Drive, which has no low range.
What gas mileage does a 2026 Jeep Compass get?
23 city, 31 highway, 26 combined, per fueleconomy.gov. Only one configuration is certified this year, so the rating holds across the range whatever the wheel or tire. The tank holds 13.5 gallons.

How fast is the 2026 Jeep Compass?
The published figures are 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, with the torque peak at 1,750 rpm, which is what makes it feel responsive from a stop and on a hill. Acceleration times attributed to Jeep online are magazine tests of earlier model years.
Can a Jeep Compass tow?
Only the Trailhawk, rated at 2,000 pounds properly equipped and only with the Trailer-Tow Group on a conventional hitch. The other five trims carry no towing rating at all, and no package adds one, so towing has to be decided at the trim stage.
Does the Compass take premium fuel?
No. It is certified on regular 87-octane unleaded. The owner's manual notes higher-octane fuel lets the engine operate at optimal performance, but Jeep publishes no separate horsepower rating for premium, so there is no rated gain to pay for.
Questions
Features and Technology
What size screen does the 2026 Compass have?
The base Latitude has an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The other five trims carry a 10.1-inch screen, which on the Latitude Altitude arrives as part of the Altitude content that defines the trim. All six run Uconnect 5.
Does the 2026 Compass have Apple CarPlay?
Yes, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto compatibility are standard on every trim including the base Latitude. Wireless phone mirroring is not a step-up item on this vehicle.
Does the Jeep Compass have hands-free driving?
No. Active Driving Assist is available on the Latitude Altitude and Limited Altitude and it is a hands-on system: Jeep's own wording is that the driver must keep their hands on the wheel at all times, enforced by touch sensors in the wheel. Jeep's hands-free system is built for specific Grand Cherokee models only.
What safety features are standard on the 2026 Compass?
Seven airbags, full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, the Active Lane Management System, drowsy driver detection, the ParkView Rear Back Up Camera, electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist, rain brake support and automatic high beams. All standard on every trim.
Does the 2026 Compass have a sunroof?
The panoramic sunroof is standard on the 85th Anniversary Edition and optional elsewhere through the sun-and-sound packages. It is not standard on the Latitude.
Questions
Trim Differences
Which 2026 Compass trim should I buy?
For most buyers the Latitude at $29,550, because four-wheel drive, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and remote start are all standard there. Step to the Limited if you commute and want adaptive cruise and the power liftgate standard, or the Trailhawk if you leave pavement or need to tow.
What is the difference between the Compass Latitude and Latitude Altitude?
$2,115, and it is appearance plus screen. The Altitude adds 18-inch gloss-black wheels, gloss-black exterior trim and badging, piano-black interior accents, illuminated visor mirrors and the 10.1-inch touchscreen. Engine, drivetrain, seats and heated equipment are identical.
Is the Compass Trailhawk worth it?
If you actually leave pavement or tow, yes, and nothing else in the range substitutes for it. It is the only trim with a low range and 20:1 crawl ratio, Rock mode, Hill Descent Control, four skid plates, red tow hooks, all-terrain tires, a full-size spare and a towing rating. If your driving is all paved, the Limited is the better fit at the same money, because it spends the budget on adaptive cruise, the power liftgate and the digital cluster instead.
What does the 85th Anniversary Edition include?
19-inch Steel Oxide wheels, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, the nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, 85th Anniversary cloth seats with Mayan Gold stitching, anniversary decals and Berber floor mats. It is a mid-year special edition, priced at $32,345.
Questions
Service and Ownership
How often does a 2026 Compass need an oil change?
There is no fixed mileage. The schedule calls for oil and filter service whenever the oil change indicator asks for it, which adjusts to how the vehicle is driven. Short winter trips bring it on sooner than steady highway miles.
What are the running costs on a 2026 Compass?
On schedule, no. There is no scheduled transmission or axle fluid service at all, the 30,000-mile visit is a single air filter, and the one substantial visit is spark plugs and inspections at 60,000 miles. It runs on regular fuel at 26 mpg combined.
How long is the 2026 Compass covered for?
3 years or 36,000 miles bumper to bumper, 5 years or 60,000 miles on the powertrain, and 5 years or 60,000 miles of roadside assistance. Corrosion runs on two clocks: 3 years and unlimited miles on the sheet metal, 5 years and unlimited miles on the outer body panels.
How safe is the 2026 Jeep Compass?
The results are mixed and we publish both. NHTSA rates it 4 stars overall, with 5 stars in the side test and 3 for rollover. From IIHS: Good on both small overlap front tests, Poor on the updated moderate overlap front test, Marginal on the updated side test, and no award held. Read the full detail at nhtsa.gov/ratings and iihs.org/ratings before deciding.
Questions
Buying at Jeep Portsmouth
Where can I test drive a 2026 Jeep Compass in New Hampshire?
At our showroom, 2355 Lafayette Rd, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Call (603) 431-8900 or use our contact page to set a time. We are a short run up I-95 from Hampton and Seabrook, and straight down Route 16 from Dover, Somersworth and Rochester.
Do you have the Compass Trailhawk in stock?
Stock changes weekly, and the Trailhawk with the Trailer-Tow Group is the combination that moves fastest. Call us at (603) 431-8900 and we will tell you what is on the lot today and what is inbound, rather than have you guess from a listing.
Can I get pre-approved for financing before I come in?
Yes, and it saves time at the store. Our financing page takes a secure application and we work with a range of lenders. Getting the approval done first means the conversation on the lot is about the vehicle rather than paperwork.
Will you appraise my trade-in?
Yes. Use our trade-in form for an initial figure, or bring the vehicle in for a proper appraisal. An in-person look is almost always more accurate than an online estimate, particularly on a vehicle that has been well kept.
Can I order a Compass if you do not have the one I want?
Yes. Factory ordering makes sense when you want a specific trim, colour and package combination that is not stocked, most commonly a Trailhawk with the Trailer-Tow Group. Call us and we will tell you honestly whether ordering or waiting for an inbound unit gets you there sooner.
Do you service the Compass here?
Yes. Our service department is factory-trained on the Jeep lineup and uses genuine Mopar parts. Book through the service scheduler, or use the Mopar Express Lane for oil changes, tire rotation and inspections without an appointment.
Are you the same dealership as Bournival Jeep?
Yes. This is the current name for the store previously known as Bournival Jeep, at the same Lafayette Road location.
How far are you from Dover or Exeter?
We are a short drive from both: straight down Route 16 from Dover and Somersworth, or in on Route 101 from Exeter and Epping. Kittery and York are just over the Piscataqua River Bridge, and the Massachusetts line is a few minutes south on I-95.

Still Have a Question?
Call the store at (603) 431-8900 or come see us at 2355 Lafayette Rd. We would rather answer it straight than have you work it out from a spec sheet.
