Keeping a Recon right is mostly a matter of doing small things on time, and there are fewer of them than you are used to. Jeep's published schedule asks for a tire rotation every 5,000 to 7,500 miles and a fluid check every 25,000, and there is no engine oil service at all, because there is no engine.

Fluids
Fluids get checked and replaced as needed every 25,000 miles. That is the whole published fluid interval, and it is a fraction of what a gas Jeep asks for.
What is on that list is worth understanding, because an electric vehicle is not fluid-free. The 100.5-kWh battery and both drive modules are liquid-cooled, and the vehicle carries 13.5 quarts of coolant to do it. Brake fluid still absorbs moisture over time whether or not the brakes get much use. Washer fluid, on a coast that throws road salt at your windscreen from November into March, you will get through faster than the schedule cares about.
What is not on the list: oil, oil filters, spark plugs, drive belts, a fuel filter, a timing service, and the emissions hardware that comes with all of it. That absence is the ownership argument for this vehicle, and it is a real one.

What wears
Four things wear on this vehicle in normal use: tires, brakes, wipers and cabin filtration. Everything else on the schedule is inspection.
Tires. The 265/70R18 all-terrains are the consumable that costs real money, and rotation on the published interval is what decides whether you get their full life. A 6,112-pound vehicle with 620 lb-ft available from rest will punish a lazy rotation schedule.
Brakes. Regenerative braking does most of the slowing, so friction pads last considerably longer than on a comparable gas vehicle. The trap is the opposite of wear: pads and rotors that are rarely used can corrode, and salt air accelerates that. Have them inspected rather than assuming light use means no attention.
Wipers and cabin filter. Both are seasonal on the Seacoast. Salt spray on the Route 1A shore road eats wiper rubber, and a cabin filter that has been through a summer of beach sand and a winter of road salt is not doing much by spring.
Twelve-volt battery. An electric vehicle still carries one, and it still fails in cold weather like any other. It is a small item that strands people who did not know it existed.
Living with it here
The Recon is a first-year nameplate, so there is no long-term reliability record for it yet, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What can be said is what is on the vehicle and what this coast does to vehicles.
Corrosion is the defining NH Seacoast condition. Road salt runs from roughly November into March, and coastal salt air works on a vehicle the rest of the year; the sand and spray on the Route 1A shore road through the winter is its own category. Jeep seals and waterproofs the high-voltage pack, the drive modules and the wiring between them, and the battery sits behind a full suite of high-strength steel underbody shields. That is meaningful protection for the expensive part. It does not protect brake hardware, fasteners or suspension components, which is why an underbody wash through the salt season is the cheapest maintenance you will ever do on this car.
The freeze-thaw cycle that opens the pavement up by late February is the other one. Potholes on Route 16 and the secondary roads out toward Somersworth and Rochester are hard on 18-inch wheels and on suspension bushings; the 33-inch all-terrain sidewall the Recon runs as standard absorbs more of that than a low-profile tire would.
