Range and Charging
EPA-rated at 222 miles combined and 250 miles in the city, from a 100.5-kWh pack that takes 28 minutes to go from 5 to 80 percent.
The 2026 Jeep Recon is rated by the EPA at 222 miles of combined range, and there is a detail inside that number worth more than the number itself: the city rating is 250 miles and the highway rating is 196. An electric vehicle goes further in town than on the open road, which is the exact reverse of every gas car anyone reading this has owned, and it is the single most useful thing to understand before deciding whether a Recon works for your week.
One powertrain, one battery, no configurations to choose between. The short version
There is one powertrain: two electric drive modules, 250 kW front and 250 kW rear, making 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque together. Every Recon Moab has it, and there is no lesser version to step down to or bigger one to step up to.

The motors
Each axle has its own drive module rated at 250 kW, running on the 400-volt system. Together they make 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft, and because an electric motor produces its peak twist from a standstill, all of it is available the moment you press the pedal. That is why a 6,112-pound vehicle reaches 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
Having a motor at each end also changes how traction is managed. There is no driveshaft deciding what goes where; the two modules are commanded independently, which is how Selec-Terrain varies the front-to-rear split by mode. In Snow that means torque can be trimmed at whichever end is losing grip, faster than a mechanical system can react. On a Route 1A shore road glazed after a nor'easter, that is not a spec-sheet advantage.
The pack is a 400-volt, 100.5-kWh lithium-ion nickel manganese cobalt unit built into the STLA-Large platform. Jeep seals and waterproofs the pack, the motors and the high-voltage wiring that runs between them. On a coast that salts its roads from November into March and breathes salt air the rest of the year, that sealing is worth reading twice.
Drive system
The Recon uses a single-speed direct drive and a single-speed transfer case running full-time active four-wheel drive. There is no gearbox to shift and no low range. The rear axle carries a 15:1 final drive with an electronic locking differential standard on the Moab; the front carries an open differential at 11:1.
Selec-Terrain manages the torque split across five modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand and Rock. Selec-Speed Control handles descents and climbs at low speed without your foot on either pedal, which is the job a low-range gearset does on a Wrangler. Charging
Three ways to charge, and the one that matters most is the one in your garage. Here is how long each takes from 5 to 80 percent.

The charge port is an SAE Combo connector. A Level 2 box at home is what turns range into a non-issue: the car leaves full every morning whether you drove 12 miles yesterday or 90.
Efficiency
The Recon is rated 80 MPGe city, 62 MPGe highway and 71 MPGe combined, with 222 miles of combined range (fueleconomy.gov). Jeep's own manufacturer estimate is up to 230 miles, and Jeep has stated a later trim will reach up to 250. There is one drivetrain, so there is one rating; nothing here changes with a different axle or a different wheel package.

The city-over-highway inversion is real and it is in your favour here. Stop-and-go regenerates energy back into the pack every time you lift off; steady 70 mph does not, and pushing a 74.8-inch-wide body with a 0.404 drag coefficient through the air costs what it costs. NH Seacoast driving is mostly the city cycle. Summer traffic on Route 1A from late June to Labor Day is the city cycle at its most extreme, and it is the condition where a Recon is at its most efficient and a big gas engine at its least.

Because regenerative braking puts energy back into the pack every time you slow down, and city driving is full of slowing down. Highway driving is steady-speed work against air resistance, which returns nothing. It is the reverse of how a gas car behaves.

Cold reduces range on every electric vehicle, because a cold pack delivers less and cabin heat draws from the same battery. Plan on less than the rated figure in January. The counterweight on the Seacoast is that most local driving is the city cycle, where the Recon is rated at 250 miles, and a home charger means you start every morning full.
